I'm designing the posters for a music event at my college and I made the posters to A2 size, sent them to the printing people (printing.com) and this is what they replied back:

"After looking at your poster there are a few issues that need to be corrected before they can be printed these are:

The poster is set up at the wrong size. It should be: 423mm x 597mm trim size 420 x 594mm
It is in RGB not CMYk as it needs to be for printing.
Some fonts were missing as they were not outlined
Everything needs to be 5.5mm away from all edges, can you change and resupply"

I'm not entirely sure how to do any of this.
I'm very novice at photoshop and it took me a long time to design these posters.

And the fonts I used are ones I downloaded of this website dafont.com
When I looked at the poster on another computer (made the posters on windows and shows up fine on them but fonts missing on macs), most of the fonts went missing and there was only the "drop shadow" that was left of them...

I really need to get these posters printed in the next couple of days as the event is on friday.

Can anyone please help me as to how to get my poster to the right size and color format and how can I make sure my fonts don't disappear from the poster...

    Thanks a million!!

You need to resize the image. Either using the crop tool or the image resize tool. It's hard to tell/show you without seeing the image. The 5.5mm edge is known as the bleed. It's needed by the printer to align up the image with a little tolerance.

You also need to convert it to cmyk. In photoshop, select Edit then convert to profile then choose cmyk from the list.

When done flatten the image and save it as a tiff file. This will embed the font into the image.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Its not just an image, its a poster with lots of layers of designs and fonts and stuff.
So I don't think I can just resize the poster using the crop tool...
I'm not sure if I can post the poster as this is a public forum and as the work is for the college and not for my personal use, I wouldn't wanna post it here...

How would you get the 5.5mm edge around the poster?
And how would you size the poster to the "poster size" and "print size"...

Thanks a lot... I really need to get this done soon... :(

You can resize using the crop.... Layers or not. Do the printers need the layers? I think not. Just flatten it and send it as a tiff image. 5.5 mm edge can be created using the canvas resize tool.

    I've got a problem...
When I try to crop the image to the size, the crop size automatically adjusts to width:420.158mm, height:594.078mm

How can I crop my image to the right size of 423x597mm...

    Thanks...

Set the dimension in the crop tool dialog box.

    It doesn't work... :(
I put in the numbers in the box and if I hit enter nothing happens and if I click on 'front image' the numbers go back to width:420.158mm, height:594.078mm and at 72 pixels/inch.

If I pm you the file would you kindly be able to have a look at it?

    Thanks...

Send it to my email. oshead@gmail.com. I think it will accept 20mb file size.

Thanks a lot for the help.

But I spoke to the print shop people and they agreed to fix the files themselves so I sent them the photoshop files with the fonts. So I guess I don't need to wreck my head over this anymore... For now atleast till I get the time to learn more about photoshop!
