I can understand why you would want to be a Doctor but imo it would be ****ing hell. Ridiculously overworked and most people you treat are morons who consider Gods intervention as much of a factor in them surviving as being treated by you. Not to mention people expect ridiculous amounts from medical science and view any sort of misdiagnosis as incompetance of the Doctor.


People will also appreciate the nurses more than you because they build up an emotional attachment to them and even though you are helping them a lot of people will view you as the enemy. A lot of patients will not take their medications or listen to your advice and instead lie to you that they are.

Seriously, though take a look at some of the health sciences/careers threads where some doctors who are boardsies are spilling the beans on what its really like.

TBH, sounds like hell on earth. It seems at the moment in the present HSE system, If you don't die from overworking/fatigue, chances are you may kill a patient. Oh. and forget about a social life let alone a relationship.

I paid my doctor €50 today to chat for about 5 minutes, maybe 2 of which were of a medical nature, the other 3 general chit chat. She printed me out 2 perscriptions and told me to come back in 6 weeks. €50! I want to be a doctor
