freeview is the UK digital terrestrial tv service, only available in certain parts of Ireland via overspill. Certain parts of the SE of Ireland receive the overspill UK freeview channels from Wales with an external aerial but not an indoor one.

The equivalent service in Ireland will be called Saorview. The standards are slightly different. Your tv must be able to decode MPEG-4 video (check the specs) for Irish DTT, UK freeview uses MPEG-2.

Providing your tv is MPEG-4 compatible that indoor aerial may work if you are in a strong signal area close to an Irish DTT transmitter.

Yes it should work as it's a UK freeview-HD TV which has MPEG-4 as part of it's spec.

What model freeview TV do you have at the moment? It may be MPEG-4 check the spec in the manual or post the model number here, someone may be able to advise.

Impossible to make a guarantee because the saorview spec is subtly different but most freeview HD stuff is compatible, at least so far... There are some TVs which have MPEG4 out there, but still can't manage to display the Irish DTT because of the shortcuts they've taken with specs.

The telly at home currently has MPEG4 working when Ireland is the country picked during installation, but has no "digital" (MHEG5) aertel in operation. If the UK is chosen, digital aertel works too but channel numbers are 800, 801, 802 etc.

In a nutshell, I expect it to work but don't sue me if it doesnt:p
