Childcare costs for 3 Children

Hi, would like to see what people are paying to have three children minded in a rural setting. I'm supplying everything (dinners, nappies and snacks etc). I'm estimating this on 1st child in for 3 hours, 2nd in for 4 hours, and 3rd in for 9 hours.

Someone has quoted me 800 euros a week based on the above hours, they are registered etc but they live in a normal house so I thought it was a joke at first as I guess there over heads are fairly small compared to an organised crèche who would probably supply everything.

800pw I would have thought is a joke too:)
I would think 80 euro a day would be a fair amount.

In a professional setting I was being quoted 160.00 per week (full days) per child. And 85 euro per week for after school care.

WHAT?? €800/week? They must be seriously joking. Not a bloomin chance, is what I'd think.

I had my child in full-time creche in a small town at a cost of €140/week. Granted, that was 3 years ago, but there's no way it'd be above €160-175/wk now.

And don't forget, if your kids are of the right age, they're entitled to free childcare, up to a certain number of hours/week:

!st child 140 to 170 pw

2nd and 3rd children 5 to 7 euro per hour per child. Or sort out a weekly rate taking into account extra hours for school holiday etc.

800 euro a week is crazy and to be honest a total joke.

so at the top rate, 1st child (full time) 170

    2nd chid 4 hours daiy @7=28 x 5 = 140

    3rd child 3 hours daily @7=21 x 5 = 105

    Total 415

To be honest I think most place would do the lot for beteem 250 to 350

Best of luck and if you need more info PM me

No wonder why some moms dont go back to work, it just isnt worth it.

    415 a week, ouch.

think you ought to wait till they are all in secondry school before going back to work.

you could pay a aupair less or even get yourself a personal childminder. i say 250 into the hand ever week and maybe 300 during holidays but who can you trust to do it?

1460 per month(incl 2nd child discount) for 2 children 3 days a week in a creche in Dublin and nappies is all we would supply so would expect it to be a lot less then that:)

Really think the "into the hand bit" is really not a good idea. Best to have everything open and clear.

As a childcare provider myself I do think it is so hard for parents to have to pay childcare and really feel tax credits would be a great help. It is something I have lobbied for years for.

I would honestly say the OP should talk to a number of local childminders/providers and see what they can work out that suits.

Au pair can only work 35 hours a week so as the OP needs more that most lightly would not work.

I got an Au pair from Poland to mine our 3 kids, 40 hrs a week, Paid 300 euros plus all expenses (Food, Ticket, Accom)

The Girl got her sister to replace her, her sister got a friend so we were lucky.

I could not afford to pay 800 a week..

yeah I tried to go down the au pair route but it didn't work out, being a lone parent has a good few draw backs.
