    QA Engineer - IT Graduate (6 month contract)

    Sage CRM develops a suite of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) products. We are seeking a graduate to join our expanding team within the R&D Quality Assurance team. The QA team works closely with Development and Product Management to ensure the quality of product releases.

    This a great opportunity to join an expanding software development group within a global company enjoying considerable growth and success. This team works with exciting technologies in an environment which centres on a shared passion for quality software development.

    Sage CRM believes that graduates can add exceptional value to our expanding business through their energy, enthusiasm and innovative ideas. Sage is constantly looking for fresh talent, so while this is a 6 month role, there may be scope to extend, or relocate within Sage at the end of this period. Because of this we are looking for ambitious, intelligent candidates who will quickly progress within the company.

    This role provides an excellent opportunity to get involved in QA, but also allows the chance to gain exposure to all of the different areas of software development.

    The position will involve sufficient training and mentoring to ensure you progress quickly. Training will be a combination of:

    Formal product training
    On the job Training

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    Locate and log defects using defect-tracking system.
    Retest fixed defects and resolve any open issues with developers, product managers and business analysts where required.
    Evaluate product requirements and contribute to the definition of compelling and testable product requirements.
    Develop test cases, and set-up test environments on a range of platforms.

    Essential Skills and Attributes:

    Enthusiasm and high motivation.
    A willingness to become productive at an accelerated pace.
    Adaptability to new environments and circumstances.
    Academically demonstrated aptitudes which you can apply in the workplace.
    A commitment to ongoing training, a passion for learning and an ability to learn fast and take on information quickly.
    Proactive problem solving and a good eye for detail.
    Good communications skills, good time management and organisational skills and an ability to work to deadlines
    The candidate must be keen to take on responsibility, and develop their career.

    Desirable Skills and Attributes:

    Database administration and SQL skills.
    Knowledge across technologies such as Apache Tomcat, IIS, XML and JavaScript would be hugely beneficial.
    Any knowledge of testing or test techniques an obvious advantage.

    Experience:

    Preferably 6 month's relevant commercial/ technical experience; either as work placement experience or related part-time work.

    Education:

    Degree or comparable qualification in a related subject: computer science, information technology, computer engineering, information system management.
