    Hi,

I have quite large noticeable pores running on both sides from the middle of my nose down. I am kind of self concious about them as they seem very noticeable. I was wondering are there any way to get rid of these?

What you're looking for is called astringents. They're substances which tighten up skin. You might try witch hazel. I've known people who have used them to close up pores due to acne.

The facial cleanser (which contains glycolic acid) from MD Formulations is the only product which has dramatically helped that same issue for me!

It's very very gentle, great at taking off makeup, and never leaves me with that 'tight skin' feeling. Its fab. I get it off ebay.ie for about 20 euro for a large bottle which does me about 2.5 months ... leaves my skin really clear and is great for pigmentation too if you have those issues also....

Do you know the name of any products that you can get in Ireland that contains Witch Hazel? Or any products that you recommend for open pores that you can get in chemists or stores (not online)?

    Thanks!

No, I've never had any cause to need them, I just know people who have but I don't know what specific product it was. I'm sure if you pop into a chemists and ask them, they'll be able to tell you.

Be careful about using products on your skin without checking their suitability to you first.

The best thing you could do is see a beauty therapist, who can recommend a treatment based on your skin type.

agree with the above posters, dermologica refining lotion is also very good, using it once or twice a week.
but i find biore pore strips the best....they remove all the **** out of your pores, you can visibly see it when you pull the strips off its unreal, and you can immediately see that your pores are tighter and less visible after it.
i use them once a week, immediately after a hot shower so your pores are open and you get more out of them and then i use the refining lotion or toner afterwards to close them up. i can't even tell you how much of an improvement ive seen.

    good luck!

You can get witch haxel tonic in pharmacys, just ask for it, there is no specific make as it is something sold in similar bottles as hydrogen peroxide or other traditional pharmacy things.

I am not sure if it helps though, but worth trying, definately. Also, if you can afford it, go so a beauty therapist for a skin analysis and facial- make sure it is a properly qualified one (Cidesco). They are also good a giving advice on how to take care of your skin (drink plenty of water etc), but will try to sell you loads of expensive products. Take the advice and find similar things in Body Shop for example.

Tea tree oil is very good for oily/big pore skin- Australian bodycare is one good brand of creams and products with tea tree oil, I think you may find them in health food stores or go online. Just gogle Australian tea tree oil products. Body Shop also has a line of tea tree oil products for oily/ acne skin but is not as good as the Australian one.

    Good luck

Microdermabrasion is good for minimising large pores.
