    I have done a general online search but can't find any ordinary personal sites which don't appear 'seedy' and want payment.

    Can anyone advise on a good website to make contact with members of the opposite sex?

    Maybe that was your experience, but I happened to meet a really nice guy on it who I am still seeing and am very happy with :)

    And no matter what dating site you join whether it is free or otherwise there are always gonna be the so called "pervs" that you speak of!!!

    met a couple of nice girls off that site, but met more than my fair share of very strange ones. Only plus was plentyOfFunnyStories ;)

    OP anotherfriend.com isn't bad, much higher percentage (I found) of genuine and normal girls. match.com would be another but anotherfriend is an Irish site I think and therefore has a lot more people local to your area.

    Plenty of fish is free. However it is exactly like all the other sites.
    Even a large percentage of users on that site, you will see on others.

    Op, you are a guy. So if you sign up to such a site as POF.com, realise you probably will get the usual no replies, or a few mails then all contact stops.

    Dating Sites are like a bar with 50 people in it. 42 of them are guys. Only 8 women. What you think will happen?
