Not to be smart with you, but it will depend on how many people are interested in buying it and how much money they are prepared to spend.

Did you see last week's journal with details of the land in galway that made €12k per acre??? I know this land and walked it a few weeks before it was sold. It was bid for by 2 farmers that had got a good bit of money from the M6 Motorway construction. It was serious money for what could only be described as poor enough land. The only good site on it was sold off a few years ago. It was reseeded this time last year and the rushes are coming up strong again. So its impossible to determin the price of land. It will be determined by the bidders.

What would be the average price of poor agricultural land in coastal west Mayo?

We went to 9,000 an acre for a fairly large parcel of land. It was the very best of land though with excellent facilities including sheds

Hard to know what average land is worth, and as mentioned above it really does depend on the demand of local farmers.

    Maybe 5-6k an acre?

You may get a better idea if you ring a few estate agents in the area?

I'd go with Reiligs answer really. There's a piece of quite poor badly looked after land right next door to me, I could make something of it but the owner isn't arsed. Three years ago he was looking for a million for it, couldn't stop laughing down the phone to the agent (I had been figuring around the 30-35k mark. My guess would be along the lines of 5-6k as well, but it's just a guess.
