Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

SEI Grant for 76 year old Pensioner

    How do Folks?,
My Mum is a widowed pensioner living in North Toipperary and recently received a letter from SEI concerning the various grants available etc. She lives on her Non- Contributory pension plus what we give her from time to time.I filled out the form for her and sent it off. She lives in a 40 - ish year old house and we have done various work on it over the years including the following:
    • PVC double glazing on all windows
    • cavity wall insulation
    • attic insulation
    • Stanly stove in sitting room.
The assessor came last Friday and apparently was an extremely courteous and helpful man. After the assessment he made a call and told my Mum the following would be installed for nothing for her:
    • Attic - new cold and hot water tanks(they are about 20 years old)
    • Attic - another layer of insulation( has 8 inches but 12 inches recommended)
    • Hot Press - new tank and lagging jacket
    • Bolier - whole new system ( the burner is about 8 years old while the body is at least 18 years old)
    • Radiators - all 7 to be replaced (they were installed in the '70's and are inefficient)

He informed my Mum that with the paperwork etc the contractor will be in contact in about 6 weeks. Needless to say that my Mum is over the moon! I am just wondering if anybody could fill me in on he following:
    1. How long might this job take?
    2. Should I be there when the contractor arrives etc ?
    3. What is the procedure after the work is complete? Paperwork to SEI etc ?
    4. Anybody with any experience with this type of grant work from the SEI?

    Thanks in advance

Why are you worried....If the work is being done for nothing i would do one better. Take your mam away while the work is being done....

FYI if its all done together it will take about a week to 10 days...

The heating is the longest part...The rest will take a day each but may be done together if the same firm

    Hi Joey,
Thanks for the reply. I hope I didn't sound ungrateful its just I want to help her with this as much as possible dealing with contractor etc. I'm delighted for her too! I just like to be fore warned about things, maybe I'm I control freak!!!!It's a good idea about taking her away.
