Good news for anyone who bought/is going to buy an iPhone from another European country. After an EU investigation, Apple have dropped the "country of origin" warranty restriction, so now you can get warranty repairs on any iPhone bought in the EU in any other EU country. SO if you bought your iPhone in Italy, the warranty is now valid in Ireland. More info here:

They've also relaxed the third party developer tools restrictions for IOS developers, which many will welcome after the controversy when they were introduced earlier this year.

Very welcome news: wonder if you brought a defective 3 IRL iPhone 4 into Apple Belfast, would you get it swapped out for an unlocked model?

I got my 3-Irl iphone replaced in the apple store in belfast yesterday. No probs at all. The proximity sensor wasnt working so I rang apple care and they told me if I lived close to belfast i could drive up and get one, so I did and they were all very friendly.

If the phone is locked, the replacement phone will be locked to the same carrier.

    Upon insertion of the SIM?

Once its connected to iTunes and contacts the activation server. It will know what carrier the phone that it replaced was with.

Do belfast have stock for walk in iPhone 4 purchases? Im tempted to go up north now that the warranty is valid down south, and save on the 3 week wait since the conversion rate works out almost the same...
