I have an interview for a warehouse supervisor position in the Lidl RDC in Mullingar this week. Has anybody any idea of how Lidl conduct their interviews or working conditions with the company. Thanks.

    Had three interviews with LIDL.

The job in my case that I applied for was IT Specialist, the job they were offering was working in a store for a year to get experience. I got the feeling that I had to sign my life away if I joined LIDL.

In the last interview (which cost me the job) I talked about work life balance and that I felt that was important for achieving efficiency. Suffice to say I got the PFO in a call.

I'd somehow say that in one way or another you can increase productivity, lower costs and make them money. Lidl love to hear this stuff, My friend is a supervisor and said these things in his interview.

Just think of a few examples you can talk about in the interview.

    Good Luck!

well as a current employee of LIDL, there is no life outside of the company.
I'm not out to badmouth them, i'm just being honest.

    Hmm

How many hours do you work per week if you don't mind me asking?

    cheers

well my contract is 20 hours a week, but over the last 3 weeks, i've clocked up around 150hours!

I work in a store however i would imagine that working in the RDC would be just as demanding if not moreso.

It seems that people from the RDC are on constant call.
For instance, there recently there was a festival celebrating 10 years of being open in Galway and all the RDC-heads were working 14-20 hour shifts for at least a week!

Ps I would love to work for Aldi/Lidl but unfortunately dont know anyone working there.:( ...

I'm presuming you get paid overtime once you go over your contracted hours?

lidl workers have no life outside of work id imagine..

if you said there was no life without work, work, work, work...

then you might have nailed it

I went for 2 interviews one in English and one in German a few years ago. The one in English was not bad but the one in German was a deliberate stress interview. One of the questions was well if your day is finishing your day at 5 and u get a interview at 5mins before what would you do. My answer was stay as long as overtime was available. The answer back was to tell me exactly that I would have to stay until everything was sorted out, no matter how long it takes and there was no overtime. We basically parted on that point. Waste of time. I am not slaving away with a company which has such a bad reputation particularly in Germany.

Salaried position : We own you, don't plan anything, you won't be available.

In saying that there are plenty companies out there, offering 45 hr contracts but in reality you work till the job is done, even 60hrs+. but its the German discounters that get the bad rap, at least they pay well.

Well if you were from the local area you properly would not get the job anyway
I applied for two jobs and never even got an interview even though when they were building the eyesore they promised local jobs which is why i or my neighbors did not object. I know no one from the local area or surrounding areas working there which in my view is a disgrace

That's really unusual that you haven't heard! Lidl have a policy to reply within two weeks, usually within a few days. Wonder did they write to you and the letter got lost.
