SPC & SCC renames

Hey, just wondering if anyone has heard any news about when the SPC and SCC will be voting on the constitutional changes to re-brand themselves? I was at the SCC meetings last year and it never came up and have heard nothing yet from either party. If anyone can say why they are doing it that would be helpful too.

Also has anyone seen a copy of either constitution recently, it may be of worth to read through again?

I believe the SPC constitution used to be online at www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~spc but the website went down at some point last year. You can probably get a copy of it if you email Siobhan Byrne or Una Redmond.

I'd imagine the name change is intended to make it sound friendlier and bring everything in line with the Office of Student Life, but it does seem odd that they opt to add the word "life" to their name when the Union have ditched it for their own site.

Exactly it. This was actually proposed a number of years ago, only brought into effect recently.

And yes, it needs approval.

to be honest, the publications sections of the name was sort of redundant. the college view, flashback and the style soc magazine all come under a subsection of a society nowadays i think, instead of being stand alone publications, is does make sense to change the name, although i still cant stop saying spc.
