Holy s**t:( I got a text yesterday from UPC offering me Setanta 1 for €9.99 a month for the next 3 months. Thats more than Setanta themselves:rolleyes:. As minstrel says, its still way too much. What has happened the €5 you would get from Setanta if you threatened to cancel?

    lol

€16.99 is what they usually charge

how the **** do they keep going? I was hoping to be gone by now

I've been paying €5 a month since May and from October it will increase to €7.50 a month

How are long are they offering the €7.50 from October for?

I've been with them for a couple of years and around last April I rang in to give them 1 months notice of canceling so they offered me 3 months at €5 a month and the guy said to ring again in early July.

I did that (said I was canceling) and they give me the same offer again and once more told me to ring in September to see what offer they would make me. So I rang a couple of weeks ago to cancel again but they would only give me an offer of €7.50 a month as they were now broadcasting live premiership matches.

So unless you have a current subscription with them you may struggle to get it for that price.

I cancelled and also turned down the 7.50 cos their channel is **** and the picture quality is dreadful. I dont miss the sat afternoon matches either.

The offer is €8.48 for the first 3 months BUT theres a connection fee of €14.99!!!!

    Will they ever learn?

It really is quite funny that a company will charge you a connection fee when all they need to do is activate your viewing card number on their system.

Just out of interest why were you hoping they would be out of business by now?

Possibly because they have the Uefa europa league rights for Ireland which means another sub when ESPN also show it but their coverage is blocked here.

My issue is their charging of premium prices for what is mostly ****. That connection charge makes it all the more annoying.

I don't care who I get sport from but all I know is that they have 5 Man U games in the next two months, so the 1/2 price offer suited me grand

They should call themselves MUTV 2 in that case. Good for Man Utd supporters, **** the rest of you.

things aren't good for the rest of yas anyway!

They have the Man City 2moro night if that makes you happy.
I'll be keeping on eye on what matches they have in the new year tho don't wanna get stung

    +1

And this was after 3 months free trial with the An Post deal, so still good value for me, guy even told me when to ring to get another deal so as never to pay the full €16.99.

Also I have multiroom and neither box needs to be connected to the phoneline!

They have a reader offer in the sun starting today. you collect three tokens and call them up and get 2 or 3 months free.
on UPC you get 3 months free and on satelite you get two months free setanta but you have to pay a €5 connection fee. pretty good. little birdie tells me you don't even have to collect the tokens, just ring them and ask for the sun offer and they give it to you as long as you are not a subscriber already. not bad.

    How'd you manage that?

I used to have Sky multiroom and there was a mention on the Setanta site that adding a second room was free, so got them to add it to my multiroom card, when I cancelled my Sky multiroom over 6 months ago there was no need to have both boxes connected to phonelines any more. I don't think Setanta ask for phoneline connection anyway, probably no way of policing it!

I see the terms have changed on their site:
Can I get Setanta Sports in another room?
Yes, Subscription to Setanta Sports in any other room is €1.49 for your second box and costs just €4.99 per box per month for all additional boxes. Simply call our customer services team to have this added to your account

But I currently pay €7.50 a month for both cards so like everything with Setanta VERY negotiable!

Just get yourself an ex sub Irish sky card and away you go!
