What is the best bit of kit for removing vocals from recordings, either software or hardware?

    there is none.

best you can hope for is a little trickery with filters and phase reversal.

Can't be done I'm afraid unless you have the original multitracks of the recording.

You can have a go at 'removing/reducing' vocals - here's some advice about it.

It's a real bodge, sometimes will work to a degree - and even WINAMP can do it.

Depends on a lot of factors, but not 'impossible' if you get lucky with the track that you want to remove them from.

Alesis used to make a box that worked well enough.
