Does anyone know if the ASUS G73JW is good? It seems like it has great specs along with a great price.

    - Intel i7-740QM (1.73GHz Quad-Core with Turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz)
    - 8GB DDR3 1066MHz, 4 SODIMM Sockets, up to 8GB
    - 1TB (500G 7200RPM x2) HDD; Blue-Ray Disk Combo Drive; 802.11 b/g/n
    - Nvidia GTX 460M Graphics with 1.5GB GDDR5; Windows Home Premium 64- bit Operating System
    - 17.3-Inch Full HD (1920x1080) LED Display; 2.0M Webcam; Gaming Backpack and Mouse

Apparently, it's also the first laptop to have SiBEAM's 60GHz WirelessHD technology so you can play and watch content from your laptop on a hdtv wirelessly.

Where's the best place to buy one of these?

Saw a chinese wholesaler on Alibaba flogging these for about €500 each when bought in sets of 5 or more.

Wanna split it between a group / clan? :D

It wasn't KIRF, either, everything checked out.

    500 Euro?!

    Put my name down!

    (There's a catch though, right?)

I seen a LOT of bad reviews of it on american forums....Twas a while ago tho. Could have been sorted. Or it could explain the price.

I haven't seen a single bad review of it (and very little good reviews if any!), it seems a decent laptop, ASUS make good Motherboards, so I assume their laptops would follow suit.

    No you didn't.

The G73JW is barely released, the very first owners took delivery of it literally two or three weeks ago.

I will mention that it's a deal I saw on Alibaba.com, who work as a frontend market for chinese manufacturers and wholesalers to other countries. They only sell in bulk, their employees all do the typical 'Use an americanized name' thing and that particular laptop was taking orders up to a month ago.

There is most likely zero support in the case of a fault, very little chance of a refund if there is a mistake or the laptop isn't up to scratch, and even a slight chance that the whole thing is a sham. As is the nature of buying from chinese wholesalers who KNOWyou find it hard to remember their company name.

You can find some pretty good deals, but it is high risk. Also, in order to actually make the purchase, we'd need to make it look like it's worth their while. That means someone sets up a dummy IT sales site with a working email address (A "redesign in progress" site with contact info usually works) and a domain. Te minimum purchase is 5 laptops, but that's usually a 'demo lot' with the expectation of more orders if they check out. I was lucky to find one with such a low minimum, a few sites do 20 minimum, and most won't accept orders for less than 50 :D

More than likely you are thinking of the G73JH. Its not the same laptop as the G73JW.

Not likely im afraid. Asus G range nearly seems exclusive to the US market. Expect to pay through the nose for the imports over here.
