gundog problem

    i have springer spaniel which is great all types of hunting duck pheasent pigeon but only thing wrong with him is he wont fetch any bird if it is still moving ,so any advice on how to cure this ?

    A guy i know had the same problem with a pointer, he was advised to go back to dummy training with the dog but to tie the dummy to the end of string, throw it start jerking the string and send the dog out to fetch jerking the string all the time. Once the dog goes to pick the dummy stop jerking immediately.

    had the same prob with my springer used the string method but used a dead pheasant instead of a dummy any dead bird would do pigeon duck etc and for the next few weeks be patient and only send your dog for retrieves you know for sure are dead how old is your dog

    2 years old but has i mind of a puppy still squats to piss and he is a male started trying the string method and so far so good thanks for the great advice.
