What posts would you take back if you could?

Ever hit the submit button and realise two seconds later that you were wrong?

Ever post and then watch a thread unfold and realise that you were on the wrong side of an argument?

Worst of all. Ever post, and be nasty, and realise later that all you were doing was taking a cheap shot cos you knew the majority were on your side? Basically just being a cheap gutless bully?

I've done them all. And my emotions afterwards have varied between, embarrassment to ignorance to shame.

I'm not a big enough man to cite one of my shameful ones, so I'll just cite one of my embarrassing ones. There was a thread once entitled "There's nothing nicer than...."

As an ex-barman, I posted "Taking off a pair of shoes that are killing you".

I had the felicity of being thanked by every wimminz on boards. Not one of whom will ever ride me now, although would value my input on what I think of another bloke that they're thinking of riding.

I might aswell have shown them "swatches" of what I'd like the bridesmaids to wear at my wedding (which ain't going to be happening now).

So, which posts would you take back?

Oh god. So many. I have been at the point of almost burying my laptop in the back garden. Anything to stop myself.

My new resolution is to hide my password when I'm in a mood and swilling vino. Dammit, its just comes up crystal clear in memory, just like a pin number does when it would be so much better to head home for the night.

However, my most cringeville posts have been made sober, and just to torture myself I try not to use the edit/delete feature.

Actually, lol, I do remember when I first joined up wandering into the thunderdome and trying to have a conversation.

Kiera told me to fcuk off or something and I said to her "You are so ignorant" I had no idea that was the point of it all, felt really stupid when I found out, lol.

Another time I meant to post something about a Toyota Landcruiser in motors and I wrote Toyota Landrover. But it was too late to edit, it had been quoted and laughed at :(

The posters in motors forum are the greatest high horses in Ireland.
Great at the "holier then thou" posts

Make one wrong move in motors forum and you'd be ripped to shreds
    So ignore them all!

The only part of that sentence that surprises me is that the motor forum heads actually get out from under the bonnet of their precious cars for long enough to have a get-together.

I got such a backlash for the "Recession, My Arse" thread, that I regretted starting it for about the 5 minutes it took me to read the negative replies.

Then I thought - f*ck that... the ones who are complaining are probably the lazy, work-to-rule, "I'm only doing the bare minimum that I'm paid to do", lazy gits that I was giving out about in the first place.

We all remember that thread, it got a large reaction.
If it was a terrible thread, we would have ignored it.
So it was a good one

No, you got opinions from employed and unemployed people alike. PAYE workers and self-employed. Office workers and delivery men.
    You got replies from everyone!

What ruined that thread for you was your aggressive tone in post 1.
And even then, many posters were defending you.

Was really bored and im waiting to finish downloading a movie so i decided to post 4 of my worst:
    no particular order

    1) Coming out of my mother's vagina

    2) Without coming across as sexist or without doing any reseach, I'd imagine it's got to do with their brains being smaller than mens.

    3) The Bible proves there is a God - End of disscusion

    4) (this one got me banned for a week)Also when Muslims integrate here where do we draw a line culturely?

Do we stop the church bells so is not to offend?

Do we introduce laws to stop eating pork?

or do we allow them to have sex with children and butcher goats out their back gardens?

They meet under a huge bonnet and try to establish who the dipstick is. I believe they're manifold.

The "specialist" forums can be really anal. I remember posting in the boxing forum the night (one of the nights) Bernard Dunne got the head knocked off him, saying that he was so sh*t that he didn't deserve a world title.

    There was uproar.

Then I posted saying that the reason I didn't believe he was up for the challenge is that - from sparring with him in the ring for years & getting to know him personally - I knew that he didn't have the courage behind his convictions to be a true world champ as he had just become a father & wanted desperately to spend more time with his family.

I got ultimate respect for that.

Chumps. I never boxed in my life.

I hardly ever look back at my posts. Anytime I do so, I think - "twat". Some of my posts actually make me want to take a hammer to my face.

I have hit submit and then just cringe knowing that my comment was going to get bashed horribly. I have wanted to take a few of those back, but I do learn from them. I try to be more aware of what I write before I post it.

I haven't done that quite yet on this forum. Only because I haven't been here that long. Also, I am an American and I am trying to get used to the slang that is used on this forum. Also the sentence structure and what certain words mean here compared to the U.S.A.

For example; Bonnet to me means a hat that you put on little babies. I would use the term under the "Hood" rather than bonnet when referring to cars. Just little things like that.

Another example would be, If I asked you would you like a ride I would not be talking about cars. :pac:

For most of my 'serious point' posts, I read back over them and think to myself:
"That looks like poorly written, structureless jibberish". I'm a crap communicator, I should really proof-read my post smore.

I also regret trying to contribute to that huge thread in the Christianity forum. I had the bright idea of trying to quote the bible to argue against the hardcorers but I feel that I managed to come across equally as nutty as them.

Actually, I take that back, I'm standing by it.
