Received an email from 3V and they are looking for verification of name and address .

Having read the email , it seems to look very grey to us

here is most of it :
'' In the 12 months to date, you have purchased 3V Vouchers with a total value of €2250. Thank you.

If you buy 3V Vouchers with a total value greater than €2500 in a 12-month period, 3V will ask for documentation to verify the name and address you registered with us, before you can buy any more Vouchers.

If you send this documentation and it is approved by permanent tsb, the €2500 limit will no longer apply. You can provide the documents at any time, before or after you pass the €2500 limit.

If you would like more information about the particular documents we need to receive to remove the limit, please email us at ...... ''

I would like to know if this email is genuine and what documents will they need to verify name and address

It could be well be genuine, as 3V do ask this. The reason is due to EU anti money-laundering laws. Documentation is normally a photo ID and a proof of address (utility bill). Photocopies of each, or scanned to an email, normally.

    Thanks jor-el ,
presume it is genuine , but cannot find much info about it on the 3V website .

Have been with Paypal now for some years and I don't recall ever having to forward ID/verification documents .

I did once verify a credit card number using the € 1.50 code , but that credit card is long gone and account closed .

Will of course email them to find out the actual documents required , But I don't like the request to email these docs .
Would prefer to send them to a specific address location to 3V.

Just found some info on the website , but they dont refer to documents :>

Can I buy more than one 3V Voucher at a time?
You can buy as many 3V Vouchers as you like up to a limit of €2500 in any 12-month rolling period. However, you should remember that you can only use one VISA number for each transaction.

If you receive over €2500 on paypal you have to provide passport & proof of address. There is no spending limit on paypal as you can only fund your paypal account with credit / laser card and the issuer of these cards would ahve your details.

Its to do with money laundering legislation.

Everything comes back to tracing (if required) the movement of large sums of money and if its dirty or not.

    Normal practice.

It's real, we had to the same a few years back since we use the 3v vouchers alot, it's best to do it and then you don't have the 2,500 limit.

I think everything they asked for. You should ring 3v if you are unsure about it.
