I just found the patterns that I need on The Knitting Knitch but I am going to keep looking for someone in Ireland stocking them and the wool. Their patterns are so nice.

Perhaps this would be considered intermediate or expert and not something a beginner would take on without someone who can provide hands-on assistance.

You would have more support at the neck, arms and bottom if you knitted according to a pattern - you select what you want.

Cutting out the pieces from a length of knitted material would require tracing out the pattern onto the "fabric", sewing around the tracing to stabilize the knit so it does not ravel when cut. <<MOD SNIP>>

The neck, arms and bottom would need to be stabilized with fabric or ribbon.

You might want to try this out with a sweater from the thrift shop before cutting into your knitting.

I got some Phildar stuff in France this year. I haven't seen their stuff in Ireland anywhere. I don't know if they distribute to here. Their website says that they do delivery to Ireland. Hope that helps.

Yea they do specify delivery to Ireland but I tried to set up an account on the website to buy what I needed and I kept getting an error message.I contacted them via email to see if I could get the issue resovled but didn't even get a reply from them so don't know what's going on with them. Shame really because the patterns and wool are so nice. If I have any luck sourcing else where I will post it on here.

I'm in France - I've ordered yarn from them online before so I'm fairly sure I have an active account. If you have paypal, if you know what you want ... I could order & post stuff to you and you could pay for them. Actually you'd be paying Ponster my husband and upstanding member of the Boards.ie community :-)
