Even if i get enough hours sleep in the night they still excist, i have never taking drugs or anything like that. i have tried almost every loreal eye cream but it wont get rid of them or even brighten them up a bit.

im a smoker and i get little black marks under my eyes. though no bags or sunken black eyes so it dosent bother me too much, im 20/female, i tried all the loreal stuff and other stuff available in supermarkets to try and sort it out but it did nothing, eventually i went and talked to a beautician. i am concerned about my skin with smoking, id like to take care of it as well as possible. anyway she told me about it. apperently the dark circles around the eyes are a result of broken blood vessels, the same as with redness around the nose, they cant be completely reversed but can be made look alot better. she recommened some products which have made my skin look great, the dark patches i had under my eyes are pretty much unnoticeable and my skin looks like im a non smoker healthy type! anyway i recommed you to go speak with a beautician, in my experience any supermarket bought skin care products have just made it worse.i also recommend you drink a lot of water. i wouldnt worry too much if i was you though, guys tend to get away with these things very easily, girls dont :)

OP, I'm a lad and used to have a hangup about visiting a salon. Acne, rosacea, blackheads, I had it all!

Seriously, the majority of their customers may be girls but they can sort you.
Just call ahead and ask for the manager and they will get the best person for you.

I've gone to a salon for a facial and freely admitted it the lads, it was brilliant.
    Your mates should understand too

But keep it quiet if you want too, that's cool also

I heard the same, ask around and visit a professional

    Hey OP,

I used to get these. I know how annoying they can be. In my experience, they are nearly always down to a lack of sleep. I know you have said you get plenty but are you sure your sleeping well? I mean do you feel well rested during the day?

If you need an alarm clock to wake up early and/or feel groggy in the morning your probably not getting enough. The trouble is, I found you need at least 2 weeks of good sleep for the dark circles to go away. Try concentrating on getting really good sleep every night for 2 weeks and see what happens. And remember that waking early naturally is as important as going to bed early. I found that the "9 hours" of "sleep" say when you go to bed late and then sleep in was the worst for dark circles.

Must agree with all the above.

Im a guy who has dark circles since I was a child. i have naturally 'deep set' eyes so my under-eye area is kinda noticeable (if that makes sense!) and since about age 20 i get bad dark circles and puffiness.

The following tips work in my experience:

-Plenty of good quality sleep; to echo the previous poster, I notice if I have a week or 2 off and get lots of rest and sleep, my eye area looks at its best.

    -Water

    -Avoid alcohol and salty/fatty foods

    -Regular exercise

    - Gently (very gently) massaging the skin around the eyes. Using 3 fingers of one hand massage in gentle circles from the inner corner towards the outer (this tip is probably more relevant if you have swollen eyes too)

-Cheap over-the-counter products do not work. I have been using this (http://www.adonisgrooming.com/dev/dermalogica-total-eye-care-spf-15-15ml.html) for most of this year and it's actually brilliant. Its very light, makes the skin under your eyes look bright and smooth (without looking weirdly white or anything, just natural) and it has SPF. Using it daily has seemed to improve the condition of my skin over time.

(Note: I have found this product cheaper on another Irish based website, but just cant find that link right now, sorry)

-Finally, while I'm not sure you really need to see a beautician for this problem, if you are interested in looking after your face there are some salons that cater exclusively for men.

all of the above advice is very good but unfortunately did not work for me. that's because my 'under eye' dark circles were caused by specific factors which could not be altered by creams, surgery, etc. i even enquired about botox they were that bad but that wouldn't have worked either.

i'm not that vain of a guy but they were really bad. people actually asked me if i was sick which got me down........and they were shockingly bad after drinking.

so in the end, i ended up buying concealer for them. i wasn't too keen on this route as i like to think of myself as a masculine guy but i had no alternative. fortunately, the concealer worked and they look a lot better now. you can buy concealers over the net if your worried about going into a shop and asking for them. just match them up with your skin tone. there is one actually made specifically for blokes....it's called Nivea M-stick i think and it's really good. no one will ever know your even wearing it so long as you match up your skin tone correctly.

OP some people just have natural dark circles under their eyes, I do, but I'm a girl so I use concealer to cover them. It's just a combination of my very pale skin and my mother's genes, she has them too.

I prefer eye creams with light reflecting particles to concealer. I find the effect more natural, it improves the skin rather than just masking the darkness (it does that too, btw) and are usually light and more comfortable to wear.
