for some reason everytime i switch to a new channel subtitles is automatically on, on my chorus/upc set top box. this has only started to happen in the last 4 or so days....if i want to get rid of them i have to press the red button, then the green which switches the option from english to none and it works but once i switch channels i would have to do it again and i cant save the changes..

does any1 know what is wrong and how can i fix this as it is really annoying me...

Go into settings in the menu and set the subtitles to None in there. Switch the box off and back on and it should stop showing them when you change channel.

I have the exact same problem and i cant get rid of it. Very irritating.

Also there isnt a "settings" in my menu so have no idea how to stop it. There seems to be no way of saving it once turned off

I have that issue also. There doesn't seem to be anywhere to turn it off altogether apart from on the individual channel I'm watching. Once I change channel or the reception jumps, they are back.

The box i have is quite a few years old so i def dont have a settings menu.

I tried ringing them yesterday to see what the story was. I wouldve been better off joining in the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Wasters

On my digital box (big silver yolk) and on my HD box its menu >> settings >> preference settings >> subtitle language -> off.

There has to be some way to turn them off; have a poke around inside the menus and youll probably find something.

cheers for that, worked a treat.

Iv the grey sagem box (small type) and i done this.....

press Menu - Installation - User Installation - Language Settings - Main Subtitle (change this to none - mine was set to English) - press OK and Exit...

    Should be fine now....

    Cheers lads all good now.

Between the subtitles and the little woman throwing shapes in the bottom right corner, the screen was a bit crowded!
