Advice for buying a board?

Hey, I've been surfing for the best part of a year now, and i'm very comfortable with a 7'3 mini mal and i've been wanting to get a shortboard for sometime now, I'm 6'1 so I'm a tall guy for surfing, so any ideas for length of a shortboard? I've had a few waves on my friends 6'8 and i loved it, So any feedback and advice…
