    Here we go.

My old computer died and was synced to my own ipod. I had a lot of music on it which I want to keep. Is it possible to sync it to a new computer keeping my content. If so how?.

You should be able to export the songs on your Ipod to your new computer.

You need to download software to get music from your iPod to the computer. if you do a search on this forum, its been asked and answered numerous times.

Without iTunes running, connect your ipod to your computer.

The iPod should show up in My Computer, open it from there...

If you can't see a folder called 'iPod_Control' you'llneed to do the following:
Tools>Folder Options>View>Show hidden files and folders (select)> OK

    Then...
    • Open 'iPod_Control' folder and then copy 'Music' folder to your computer.
    • Eject ipod (like you would a USB stick)
    • Go to copy of music folder you just made on your computer. Right click>Properties>de-select 'Hidden'.
    • Re-name the folder if you like.
    • Open iTunes.
    • File>Add folder to library>Select the folder you copied
    • Job done :)

That hasn't applied to any iPods released in the last few since. Only work on early version, looking for hidden folders was a pretty obvious "hack"

It's not a hack of any sort. It's just copying files from a external storage device to one's computer. I doesn't aid piracy or anything since you still need to authorise the computer to play purchased content.

What does the ipod look like in My Computer these days?

...and when did the above method stop working?

Of course you can do that, but you will then have an iPod with all her music on it. Apple doesn't let you transfer music from your iPod to your computer for the obvious reason that you could take somebody's iPod and in a few mins have a **** load of songs that you never paid for.

There are obviously ways around this, see the hundreds of youtueb videos and methods online like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Stv7bLn17Q

Otherwise, just use a software program like iPod rip or something. There is loads of them, just google it.

Originally, apple tried to stop sharing by having the files hidden,
the originally jailbreak was turn on hidden files above.

    Then they include various auths,

But the last few versions have been coded not to show, basically it shows up as an empty digital camera in my computer, (some PC show the files from the picture folder in the camera)

you need a program to extract the files, one that can read the files like itunes or other programs

Get sharepod. It's by far the easiest way and it's free
