Does anyone know of someone/shop who could recover data from a laptop with a fried motherboard for a reasonable price (not more than 50 quid I'd be hoping). Would need to be based in Dublin.

If it's only the motherboard that's fried you could do it yourself. Just buy a usb hard disk caddy that will fit a 2.5" drive and take the hard drive out of the laptop and put it in. Sorted, they're cheap too, less than a tenner.

you'd get it in any of them, just ring them to check first. Data recovery is usually really really expensive, and not worth it unless you have valuable data on your hard drive.

got one in PC Worldtoday. spoke to 1st guy and he didn' have a clue what it was and said they didn't have them. second guy was a bit better. didn't know what they were but managed to find one. third guy was bang on. Dean was his name. definitely talk to him if you need something as he was really up to speed. thanks for the tip. must try it tomorrow.
