The Fear

So I awoke today and there it was. No sooner had I lifted my head from the pillow thoughts of my shenanigans from the night before. Everyone hates me, what did I, why did I say that. I fully expect another 24 hours of this unbearable anxiety of the day after the night before and talking to my other mates - all yes ALL of them suffer it too. And we are all agreed it is a recent development. Ever since we turned 22 our hangovers have been getting worse and the 'fear' is now a fully fledged part of said hangovers regardless of how much was drank. To put it in short for those who do not get it, it is an irrational exagerated negative view of everything you did or said the night before and evaporates usually within a day or two (depending on the night) of drinking.

Anyone else suffer from the fear or can anyone else explain it?

***pre-empts the 'everyone does hate you' responses***

And the cops are outside your door.

Best flush the drugs down the toilet.

yeah im pretty sure everyone gets it to some degree. hangovers from alcohol make you more vulnerable to anxiety and depression.

edit: some people use xanax to help with "the fear" from their hangovers.

I have had a whole week of "The Fear" after a long a$s long weekend on the lash. Its horrible and I seem to notice it more since I turned 22. Life gets sh1ttier after 21 anyway.

When I turned 21 my aunt imparted this little gem:

"Enjoy your night but remember after 21 the years go so fast the next thing you know your 40 and wishing you were 21 again"

To be fair to her she looks horrendous for a 40 year old so I assume thats where some of her bitterness comes from.

I get the fear seriously bad. I'm 22 and it definitely seems to be a recent development. On occasion I get it so bad that i wont get any sleep the next night! It's usually over nothing too, it's not like i streaked down the street or anything. The best way to deal with it imo is to spend the day with friends and instead of worrying about the night before you can laugh about it.

But in the end and no matter how hard you try....THE FEAR WILL GET YOU!
