Jesus, there'll always be someone to complain about anything, we start using renewable energy to end our addiction to oil and of course someone on AH has to fault it.

I assume OP is more aware of the workings of geo-thermal energy than scientists or geologists?

(As if we already had naturally occurring geo thermal springs and mudpools bubbling up to the surface here..)

wishful journalism, utter bollox-ology? ha ha

Having been to the new geothermal plant just outside Reykjavik in Iceland I can vouch for the effectiveness of this kind of technology.

And so what if Ireland doesn't have thermal springs and mudpools? It works off hot water and steam from deep down below the earth's crust. You'll find that anywhere. The only issue with it is finding where it's closest to the surface, which they've obviously already done.

Don't dismiss something as bollox just because you don't know anything about it.

How about we let them build it, and buy the power they generate off them at a market price, and let them figure out if it is worthwhile or not?
