No, Joey is right not a cheap one. There wouldnt be much change left out of 500 quid.
Maye you should look at replacing the boiler as a better long term solution.
There is grants availible for new condensing boilers at www.seai.ie

dang. thats not good. the heat exchanger looks like a basic piece of iron, not much to it.

is most of the cost in the labour? which is fair enough. if i can get the part from heat merchants i might need to do this myself, i wont be able to scare up 500 euro before christmas.

the heat exchanger will cost the guts of near 300 quid. ya could change its yourself BUT its a gas appliance and the the dangers of them are to well known and if your not a register with rgii your breaking the law.

A register rgii man would make sure the appliance is working safe and probably give the boiler a service and also it be guarenteed.

time for you to ake contact with somebody who's replacing a suprima, h/e is the same on each model (50-100) . you'll get it for free give it a cleanse and if you are able to fit it yourself happy days.
but once you remove the combustion cover your breaking the law...

The heat exchanger is actually made of steel or cast iron to be precise. Thats why they work so well. Personally if it were me i would replace the heat exchanger rather than the boiler. Nothing today runs as well as a cast iron heat exchanger....

However...usually when the exchanger goes it can leak water and this gets on the circuit board and next thing you know you need a new one of those as well...

To me this would be a plea to the credit union...

Is it the heat exchanger that is leaking or is it the brass connection on the bottom left hand side

Oh and don't forget the two rubber o rings for the flow and return connections that do perish and try not obstruct the openings with the rings, also have your heavy arm on hand that day, cast iron heat exchanger is heavy, especially while trying to line up the the studs with the tappings. :D
