Critisizing the Government

Hope this is in the right place, apologies if it's not.

In light of the recent 'Scandal' over Brian Cowen, which I think went way over the top, I'm wondering what people's opinions are on the way we constantly critise the Government?

I personally find it a major pain in the rear to hear people moan and whine about how Brian Cowen has ruined the country and how they're all just a shower of lazy so-and-so who haven't a clue how to run country.

Yes the country's in a mess and yes they don't seem to be doing a lot to get us out of it BUT I think we need to start owning up to the fact they are in power because WE the electorate put them there.

We are as much to blame as they are for actually voting them into power in the first place imo.

And I'll be highly surprised if they don't get back in next time around too tbh.

The problem with democracy is that the majority of people are morons. Its a sad fact op.

I don't remember anyone electing Brian Cowen as Taoiseach

I'd be very suprised if they did TBH.

Didn't vote for them wouldn't vote for them. It's a bit annoying when people go 'WE ALL SHARE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS' when I:
    Didn't profit from Anglo
    Didn't profit from property market
    Didn't get vastly inflated wages
Didn't vote for the people in power
    Never voted for them
    Voted every election
Pay taxes and don't try to get away from them.
Turn up to protests about the state of affairs.

    In short, it's not 'We'.

If everyone voted for a bunch of nice guys and then they got into power and ran the country like a dictatorship would you say it was our fault?

We didn't elect Cowen as Taoiseach or as minister for finance.

Yea we voted them in... when times were good. Nobody ever complained that the banks were loaning them too much money or that they were able to easily get a mortgage or that they were being paid too much! Yet now everyone is complaining that they're jobless, in negative equity and can't get a loan.

WTF do people actually want here? Everyone made this mess happen.

You need to stop taking the blame for something that's not exactly your fault. "We put them there" - yes you cast a vote hopefully based on the policies of the party and the individuals you voted for. But that's it. You can't blame the electorate for stupid crap that people do once elected.

"You should have know better". My arse.

who was the taoiseach runner in the election which led up to the placement of the government?,not brian cowen.

Bertie could have been a main factor in why people voted fianna fail and now they're stuck with another man, however i feel anybody who voted for them in the first place deserves to be called a moron

i think i am perfectly entitled to attacking our government because if i was in charge, i'd be able to fix this mess.

Persistent criticism of Government isn't unique to our polity, it is an effective check and balance in any political society to ensure that our leaders still have a mandate to do what they are doing. In a Government and Dáil without a proper left right divide it is essential that we do this rather than faithfully follow dated civil war lines, one of the reasons why I personally have to remain independent out of conscience.

What are you on about, their not just doing a poor job running the country, their doing a completely f***ing s**** job running the country. FF are an absolute disgrace and are proving again and again that their a bunch of useless f***ing id**ts, I think people are perfectly entitled to comment on what should be quite obvious or should we just sit back and watch our country go down the toilet?

Yes i'll admit theirs a question mark over wheter or not the opposition will do a better job although I think they should be given a chance, but the fact is even if the alternative don't look that much better it's still not an excuse for FF doing as bad of a job as they currently are
