How does this price compare? Took a look at Amazon and seems fair enough.

Just wondering, would thus require a customs payment? What's the maximum value before this kicks in?

All non eu imports less than €22 are ok, anything over is liable.

Hmm, not such a bargain so.

Non eu imports. Is this card not coming from the UK therefore should not be liable for and additional charges?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 234 ✭✭beanhead

Fraid they are based in Jersey which is liable to import tax. I bought one off eBay yesterday for around £28 not inc shipping. I would have risked my arm on this, still think it's a bargain

    on revenue.ie I found this
    http://www.revenue.ie/en/customs/leaflets/pn1179.html
Where the customs duty on a consignment of goods amounts to less than €10 it will not be collected. Similarly, VAT liability amounting to less than or equal to €6 will not be collected. No similar rule applies in the case of excise duty which will always be collected if the goods are liable to excise duty.
So if the limit is €6 and you are buying a item with 21% VAT then it could be €28.57 in value before you are liable.

Maybe the €22 figure is to catch alcohol or perfume or something.

Has anybody here actually had to pay VAT on an item under €28.57?

I've hit €40 and been clear. They seem to not bother with small blister packs.

MicroSD is limited to 4GB, microSDHC is able to go to 32GB in storage. not all microSD devices and also read microSDHC, I don't know about the PSP.

I ordered these from mymemory at the beginning of the month, and even though they are a much bulkier item, they slipped through the customs net:

    http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Overhead-Headphones/Sennheiser/Sennheiser-PX100-Headphones---Black

The value was down as £17.99.

This does not automatically mean you will have the same luck obviously.

You won't. Last year I ordered headphones worth 45 pounds from them and it arrived wirhout any hassle. They don't add the shipping value to the whole lot.

    That's a bummer!

What value was printed on the front of the envelope? Where was it sent from?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 205 ✭✭cruizer22b

Ah I was expecting it anyway, it was only 18 euro. To be honest Ive no idea what value was put on it but it was channel islands or somewhere like that.

Arrived this morning with no additional charges :) No value declared on the envelope

Strange, mine always do, albeit in minuscule font. When they had "free" postage they used to knock £2-3 off the declared value and add it back on the invoice inside.

I'm afriad to say this memory card doesn't work with PSPs (to the best of my knowledge).

PSPs take 'Memory Stick Pro Duo'. This is an 'SDHC'.

Not sure if there's any kind of adapter for it.

Must check again but nearly sure no value was on it.

Edit: It had actually got the value on it in very small writing

I got another micro sd card from them today and no duty or vat. So seems if its a small pack you could be ok.
