Restoration question

    I've picked up a non-runner as a restoration project which needs a fair bit of work, including some minor body repairs that, afaik, will result in a full respray.
    I've never done this before and was wondering how to tackle the bodywork side of things - could this be worked on (small bits of filler, etc) and left until it's time to go to the body shop or would they have to be left until right before?
    Or would I be as well to sort out all the mechanical items first and move onto the body then?

    Get it sorted mech/elec. first, if it has holes or rot cut out these areas and weld in patches, do not fill holes with filler.

    '91 bmw 320 - the only filler will be for a small circle on the drivers door. There's a lot of surface rust that shouldn't take a lot to remove.

    That would be an E36 so. Lovely motor. Shouldnt be that hard to pick up parts either.

    nice car the E36.

    I will personally fix the engine and all first, then move on the body work.
    For the rust hole, no filler but a welded patch.
    You could you use a rust removal just to avoid it to rust more until you get there.

    E30 i would cay but could be either... surface rust can be hiding more it can be very depressing when you start at something you think is surface rust and when your finished sanding or wire brushing there is a big hole haha, best thing to do is strip the car down to a bear shell and cut out any rust and weld in new mental, if you needed new panels they can be got handy enough for BMW's i think

    No, it's an E30, there'll be a brand new sig soon! No pics yet, awaiting it to be delivered to me - just went and had a look over it before I purchased. It's, on the whole, a solid car - shell is very tidy, which is why I went with it in the end.
    There really is a lot to be said about Irish cars;)
