    -a MA that you dont get hit/hurt training

    Pick one.

    Hi
    Basically like the op but don't mind getting my head kicked in, i want to harden up and be more confident while enjoying what i'm doing,

    i used to do TKD as a kid but not really pushed on going back to it as i found it more like dancing than fighting didn't like the sequence of moves you have to learn to go up in ranks, although looking at the 2nd 3rd dan guys was really impressive.
    i have been leaning towards something like Kickboxing but open to suggestions, also somewhere in the Tallaght or Clondalkin area, i have a car but rather not travel too far on bad days.

    @Kaidan

    Im bias but Muay Thai sounds perfect for you. No paying for belts or having to learn dance sequences and its full contact. Bridgestone Thai gym is on the tallaght/clondalkin luas line

    Hi Kaidan, I too did TKD for years and tired of it. Too precise in everything IMO but after doing MMA for a while i recently took up Kyokushin karate and i love it. It's tough full contact karate and, like Muay Thai, incorporates shin blocks and kicks. Unfortunately it's not as popular as other Martial Arts in Ireland as of yet so clubs may be hard to find. I attend one in Kororo on North strand and then another in Finglas.

    That looks interesting but getting to the north side at peak times for beginners might be an issue,
    do you have any sort of free weights in the gym or just punch bags, i'm currently in a gym in tallaght but if i gave that up i could maybe make an effort to get gym and martial art training under one roof, make it worth my while.

    hey,

    Myself and Jon (or Yomchi) have the same Cobatives instructor Lee Morrison. Have a gander, sounds like it might be for you (this is Lee's site):

    If your interested in self-protection definitely try and get a long to one of Jon's classes which are held in Dublin on Saturdays. Drop him a line... :)

    Hope it helps,

    Rob.
