I am a 3rd level student and was on a six month workplacement until last week. I paid 2% Levy biweekly. Just wondering can you claim back the levy paid?

You can claim it back, after the end of the year, Provided your total relevant earnings for income levy purposes is less than €15,028.
It may not be relevant to you, but any week you earned over €500gross you'll have paid 4% health contribution. Again, after the year end, if your total earnings in the year are less than €26,000, then you can claim a refund of this.

I earned about 690 gross biweekly so not sure if that health contribution is relevant, but thanks - good to know :)

I'm not sure what you mean terencemc, whether or not you have a health plan has nothing to do with this. If an employee earns over €500 gross in a week, the PRSI deduction will include an extra 4%.
If, upon review of the year as a whole, the employee's relevant earnings are below €26,000 (52 x 500), then they may reclaim any health levy they have paid.
