LCers get subject choice via distance learning

    There's been a few threads on here about students having to do a subject outside of school either without a teacher or at substantial cost to themselves due to subject clashes or eg lack of enough students to justify a higher maths class. Here's an interesting (new?) development that should be brought to the attention of those in charge

    :D Leaving Cert. in the 21st century.

    Seriously though - distance learning opens up the Leaving not just to those who want to add on subjects but to those who are working/minding children/unable to leave the house and wish to do a subject.

    While this is limited to the schools involved, there's no reason why any other school (or heaven forbid, businesses like the grind 'schools') could not do the same using Moodle and a bit of tech know how.

    It's already being done in the private educational sector with private lessons and is so much more accessible for those with children, too ill to leave the house or those who just dont want to be stuck in traffic. I think it's the way forward IF done correctly.
