some locksmiths are able to do this.. you should check around your area much cheaper than main dealer

Thanks for the reply appreciated,I have tried 4 locksmiths and for the toyota one wanted 175 as there is a chip in it or something, he told me only main dealer for the suzuki others say they they can cut me a key but it wont start car, only open doors .Didn't realize cost of replacements would be so dear. The Toyota one got stuck in ignition and had to be removed with a vice grips which resulted in a very twisted key.

The keys themselves are pretty cheap but they have to be reprogramed probably by a dealer, so that the car's immobiliser allows them to start the car.

You're probably looking at a main dealer alright, there are a few locksmiths that can code certain keys. Usually the main dealer will order a blank key for you which you get cut, then they'll code it for you, should cost around €30 to be coded, I can't remember how much the keys themselves cost.

    Have a look at http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055927262

Experiences seem to vary, so check out what price your dealer wants. I found the city centre locksmiths to be almost three times as much.

Could you not get a key from a scrapper and then get it reprogrammed?

    Hey
The OH recently lost the last chip key for her crv and had to get a new 1. We had one cut before but it would only open the locks not talk to the mobilizer so we contacted Crothers in walkinstown who said they could sort it for €280. they sent one of their guys out who cut a key inserted the chip and spent nearly 2 hours trying everything to program it with no joy tried the same again the next day with a different laptop but same result and aphone call to say sorry nothing more we can do but they didnt charge so not all bad.
Main dealers insisted on the car being delivered to them so big money there, eventually got a crowd called autokey from naas road to do the job, another 2 day epic and we eventually ended up paying them €500.00 for 1 key and 1 remote.
    Moral of the story...
    Dont lose them...
