i got a nitro car about 3 years ago and only used it once. couldn't be arsed really...was going through the wardrobe the other day. and decided that id get it going to frig.

does any one know if nitro fuel has a shelf life? is it like petrol?

these little yoks are hard enough to get going in the best of conditions never mind old fuel.

Differing opinions on Nitro life expectancy
    Some say yes
    Some say no

I say it does go off.
If it were stored in a dark place in a plastic container and a cap on tight then give it a good shake and try it..
make sure your glow plug lights up
Failing that you could ask a mod to move this to the models forum where you will get a better response ;)

If it is dead then I would get rid of it.
Dont mix it as you would only ruin the fresh stuff.

Try it, you've got nothing to loose. Chances are it's still good.

It seems able to last a few years if kept in dark out of sunlight, and well sealed. It seems to be able to increase in moisture content either from absorbing it from the air or from the methanol evaporating and so has higher moisture but that wont haappen in a sealed container. I would say it must deteriorate eventually but i have used it in aircraft engines after years of storage. But the smaller car engines are more sensitive to fuel variations than the bigger, easier to keep cool, easier to tune, aircraft engines.

A new suitable glow plug will certainly help. And mis-matching glow plugs can make car engines very hard to get running.
