    Hi,

I'm looking to scrape my car (and get the gov scrappage) and have been looking around at a few new cars to buy.

I'm looking for a smallish car- im currently driving a starlet- and was thinking either a Polo, fiesta or yaris.

I've been quoted a new Polo for 12750, a fiesta for 13K and a yaris for 11K. Just wondering which you guys think would be the best option?

I know the Polo is the car of the year but Im not too pushed on the model (mainly the front grill part) and am leaning towards the fiesta.

Any help is greatly appreciated :D

Fiesta is a very good car. But Toyota is probably better at holding its value.

You still see a lot of ancient Toyotas on the road - they never seem to die!

I'd go Polo or Fiesta, both relatively new models, the current Yaris has been around for about 5 years and is due for replacement soon. Fiesta would likely have cheaper servicing costs but Polo would likely hold it's value better. If your saving 2k on the purchase price over the other two it may be worth considering the Yaris if you intend driving it in to the ground, if you are planning on selling it on in a couple of years the other two would be better.

It might be handy to look up the reviews. I use www.whatcar.com

There will also be user reviews which is always handy!

The 1.33 engine in the yaris is worth the extra few bob.

The Yaris is a terrible car to drive.

Im not mad on the new Polo; theres something about it that just means it pales in comparison to its predecessors.

My grandfather has a new Fiesta and I have to say its a very nice little car. Great shape and design I think, lovely inside (doesnt feel like a small car which is so important for cars like that) and seems a nice drive (from being a passenger anyway). My grandfather seems to love his.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Im leaning towards the fiesta but I might give them all one more look!

I'd go with the Fiesta, Yaris is dated now (despite the new engine) and the Polo is poorly equipped compared to the Fiesta. Fiesta has alloy wheels and front foglights as standard. Shop around though as my sister was looking at the scrappage deal for a Fiesta back in July and we could get a Fiesta for €12,500 including metalic paint.

    Hey guys,

So I went out to a few dealers today to see what the best deal is that I can get. The best seems to be a new 3dr Renault Clio for 9.6K after scrappage (but i have to take it before the end of Sept!)

Just wondering if anyone on here has a new clio and whether it is a good little car? Have had a look on what car but to be honest Im not very clued in to cars!

The clio includes 3 years warrantee and 3 years AA membership. Im thinking of taking the car today but just want to make sure Im not going to regret it!

    Thanks in advance!

As much as I hate Renaults, the new Clio is a good little car (Not that little anymore, the damn thing's huge these days). The mint with the hole isn't a bad car either though!

Polo everytime for me. New model looks great! Great engine too the 1.2tsi would be pretty nippy and probably the only one that you'll find a remap for in the future.

I wouldn't go for any of the three, probably because 1. I don't have the money & 2. I don't particularly like small cars but I would def. go for the polo if I had to choose. Volkswagens FTW. Good Luck anyway in whatever you decide to do
