    Not sure what this is (the bird not the cow) thought maybe Sparrowhawk but its eyes were dark and not yellow?

    Really? I kind of dismissed Kestral because of its size, its wingspan was a
    good 30inches or so, I always thought Kestral were smaller.

    Not a very good picture of it I know, but didnt really have a lot of time
    it was hovering a good distance away from me and then came a bit nearer
    and landed, it was when it took off I managed to get this shot.

    Photo is good for id purpose. You can see distinct sub-terminal black band with white on tip of tail. This is handy to separate from other common irish falcons (peregrine and merlin).
    You can see distinct moustachial stripe on face which is common on falcon species (present in all our breeding falcons).
