Steak in plastic?

    Sounds like a really dumb one i iknow but anyway...

    got a couple of rib eyes from the local buchers, they're wrapped in plastic around the edges so they're disc shaped.

    i'm assuming i take the plastic off and let them fall into whatever shape they want when i'm throwing them onto the pan?

    I've never seen them sold that way before

    Yep take the plastic off. Sometimes ribeye can be an uneven cut but people like their 'fillet' to be round so they wrap it. I always assumed they just wrap the whole piece in plastic so it's easier to slice rounds off, but I actually have no idea why they do it sometimes.
