Excise duty on online purchase from USA.

    hi all.

    I have just sourced an item online. I can purchase it a a very competitive price from a supplier in CA, USA. Its a kite. The supplier is charging €85.00 for international 5-8 day shipping. The package would be around the size of a 20 liter ruck sack and very light.

    4 questions.
    • Is this a reasonable shipping rate to pay?
    • Will I have to pay excise on the product, (product value €478)?
    • Is the excise (if applicable) charged on the item cost alone or does it also include the shipping fee in the calculation?
    • If excise is payable, what rate will I be charged?
