Was down Meath Street with my missus today & we could'nt believe some of the bargains on offer.

Chicken Fillets 5 for €3.50 ~ Butchers at bottom of the street beside Electronic shop. (Just had chicken Fajitas & they were lovely :D)
The fish & eggs are also cheap but the queue was out the door.

Got a dry cut in the Barbers in Windsor Arcade for €6. (Lady is very nice)

Missus got her nails done in the Windsor Arcade while I was in the barbers for €15 and she was delighted.

She said the hairdresser was cheap too but we had to go so maybe somebody else has more info...

The cake shop facing the Windsor does special offers on fresh baked turnover bread & cream cakes. We got 3 cream apple slices for €3.80 & they are huge! I'm stuffing my face now, it's lovely.
All the offers are on the door, think it was €3 for 3 choc brownies...

Also got a 2 gig memory stick for €5 from the guy in the motor accessorie shop. There was only a few left but sweet deal & works ok.

Were going back on Saturday to do more shopping so I'll update then

please remove this thread - these are local shops for local people, we don't want your types round here

    :D

I like to goto shops in the west brit side of dublin to scoff at their prices then head back to the liberties to do the shopping

Finding a parking space around there is the real problem

hehe... that song by Pulp "Common People" springs to mind :D

Do agree that parking is a nightmare though, if you can't find on street try the Multistorey car park on Thomas street beside the Pound shop.

There are also a few spaces on Francis street & Vicar street too.

I'm heading down tomoro to do my shopping & the whole clan are tagging along. Like the beverly hillbillies in my little car out bargain hunting, me & my big mouth! :o

Took the clan shopping today & we scooped up some great bargains today

The butchers at the bottom of meath street had smoked coley for €4 or €5 a kilo, I know it was under a fiver anyways... huge fillet

Got a tray of large eggs for €2.99 & they had loads of specials on sausages, bacon etc...

The nanna got rolls of wool in the Liberty market for €4 a roll & she was delighted, reckons it's €6 for exact same in Hickeys
The women got slippers for a fiver & were delighted with themselves

Had a roam around the Windsor Arcade, there was a new soccer shop open & they had some great offers on jerseys, footballs & accessories...
Everything looked legit which is very unusual for the area ;)
I picked up a leather ball & goalkeeper gloves for my son for €10, he was over the moon. I promised him the new united shirt next week...

The veg shop had loads of 2 for €1 offers, got 2 bags sprouts & carrots.
Fruit & veg was perfect. Spuds were €3 for 5 kilo roosters

Toilet roll, washing power & cosmetics are all nearly half price in shop across from the cafe. Oh and I got my weekend fill of cream cakes from my fav new cake shop...Roll on Billy Bunter :D

    Absolute bargain heaven

What kind of opening hours does this establishment have?

The 2 Markets, Windsor Arcade & Liberty Market are closed Sunday & Monday. Opening hours are 10-5 (I believe, not 100%)

I would imagine it will be 6-7 days coming up to xmas.

Done our weekly shopping in Meath Street yesterday and here are some of the bargains we came across.

My wife got her hair done in the hair bar in Windsor Arcade, Full Head & Cut for €80. She is delighted with her new do! (I haven't a clue what a full head is but she's happy)

Young lad is a Man United nut and we got the United away & new Ac Milan away both for €60 in the soccer shop in Windsor Arcade :D
They were advertised as an opening offer on their sign outside.
I had a good look at these and they are 100%, all tags, holograms & official logo's. The quality of the shirts are perfect. Great value on all items there, they had mugs, hats, baby items etc...

Got a bale of loo roll & large box of Daz for €20 from the wholesale shop opposite the cafe. There is also a new sweet shop I missed last week in the old Bull Ring & they have a massive selection. Guy just practically filled the bag and asked for €2. Cough sweets yum yum.

Butchers is called Stephens at bottom of meat street & chicken fillets are still 5 for €3.50 & fish was really cheap too. Loads of offers inside.

Missus also say's that she got a lovely bustette in the lingerie shop in Windsor for €20 and reckons it's easily €50 in Ann Summers (Havent examined this, yet) ;)

I was chatting to the traders about this thread on boards & we were having the craic. Still havent got my commision yet!! :(

Was that a time limited special offer? Had a look today and no sign of it.

I live 2 mins from Meath Street and the butchers do the fillets for that price all the time just walk in and ask.Saturday morning you can get some great bargains from the butchers . The liberty Market opens Thurs, Fri and Saturday but Saturday is the best day to go there too as all the stalls are open
There is also a shop around the corner on Thomas street called eurosavers and they do everything really cheap and they are open 7 days
There are also a lot of street traders out on Saturday and they have very good deals on Halloween costumes for adults and children
There's literally something for everyone there and it really is bargains galore

Thanks. I just glanced but the only offers were 5 or 6 fillets for €5 in the two butchers near the Thomas Street end and while there was good value in other meat from these it was about the same as I've seen nearer to home (e.g. Stoneybatter and Phibsboro). Still - must investigate a bit more and do a bit of shopping up there when I get a chance. Good thread. :)

Happened to be up that way yesterday and I saw that the butchers at the Coombe/Pimlico end does indeed do 5 x chicken breasts for €3.49. The usual caveats about prices by units (which may vary in size) versus by weight apply but they looked reasonably sized. Some other good offers in that place too on eggs, chickens (e.g. 2 x small chickens for €3.99 - again didn't note the weight) etc. And lots of other bargains in other stores on Meath and Thomas Streets. Really enjoyed the vibe about the place generally too - great hustle and bustle and a "real Dublin" feel to it. :)

Nice stuffed roast pork joint for 6.99, a ham fillet for 5.99 from one butchers (I think Stephen's?).
Larkins is the beef/lamb specialist on the corner halfway down meath st, very good personal service and great value.
Veg is best at Roche's, he knows everyone, they always take time out to chat and find out what you like and what you cook. Great value, they usually add it up in their heads and round down for you and lots of fresh Irish produce. There's good fresh fish further down towards the coombe end too.
There's a more specialist kind of butchers at the Thomas st end (C&N Butchers?) they have things like stuffed lamb rolls, herb sausages, pre0made meals for a fiver that kind of thing. great value as well.
