How was your shopping experience?

We've heard all the complaints; overpriced sandwiches, confusing exit signs, verbal abuse from the Irish counter-staff(sure they're only having the crack)

Now let's hear the positive aspects about what is after all the best spar in Ireland. I can get the ball rolling.. Why should they clean their windows? I mean that's your dirt isn't it..

Aside from the overpriced lunch and the cheap-**** ingredients they use in the deli. (Something I've found to be true of almost every deli in Dublin actually.)

I quite like the Spar. The staff are friendly, they have a good selection of stuff. Newspapers are cheaper there and they occasionally do good deals on cheap biscuits, bottled water and the like.

I went mad for those maple pecan pastries that came with a coffee at the end of last semester. So good.

Staff have never been nothing but pleasant to me in there.

Can we include the Shanowen Spar in this? If so €2.50 for a hot chicken roll. 2.50!! They also have really good student deals on various things from time to time, like when they had €1 bottles of Lucozade for a while last year.

As for the DCU Spar...eh...the staff at the deli counter are always nice to talk to.

Those 2:50 rolls are quality, had one yesterday, and is literally a 30 second walk from where I will be staying during the week.

The DCU Spar was doing €1 bottles of Lucozade around exam time aswell. Coffee and a muffin for €2 was pretty sweet aswell, especially considering it cost €4+ for the same thing in the library cafe.

Bu the pack of grated cheese in the house is needed because they do charge an extra 60c for the cheese on the roll.. they were gorgeous rolls though... the best I've had in a long while..

I quite like the DCU spar, it just could do with opening during the weekends tbh :P

But yeah, staff are quite nice, bar that one that never speaks to you, rings things up and doesn't even tell you how much. Grand selection of magazines as well (I've never found Linux Format anywhere outside DCU, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough)
