Distributor Refurb. Honda prelude

    Anyone know of anywhere in the country that can do distributor refurbs?

    Honda prelude is chugging and throwing code 9 on diagnostics....

    Distributor new is around €500.00

    bit steep so need to look into refurb any tips/advice appreciated

    Have you tried a breaker? e.g. www.summerhillspares.ie - they deliver for €4, afair (obviously not € for an engine :eek:). Give them a call - they will fit it for you too.

    the mechanic i normally deal with told me i could be buying the same problem again if i go to the breaker....

    apparently the distributors are the achilles heel of the prelude

    If it was me, I'd take a chance on one from a breaker. Most breakers will give a refund or a credit note if the part they sold you proves faulty.

    A distributor from a similar vintage Accord will probably be identical - but check this before buying.

    A CL1 Accord should indeed have the same engine, so Distributors can be gotten handily. OP, Ebay has them brand new for very cheap you know...?


    If you wanna stay with proper names, then check out Urban Per4mance, Tuning Factory:VTEC Specialist or Icetronix. They all deal mainly with Honda.

    Usually the ignitor or the coil fails in these Honda distributors.
