Is this an over reaction, is she revealing something she shouldn't?
A row has erupted over Katy Perry’s appearance on the Sesame Street episode due to be screened on New Year’s Eve. Producers of the show pulled the clip after parents complained that the singer was dressed too raunchily for their children.

"Erupted". Now there's a great word for what's just happened in my trousers.

Keep running Katy...........run for your life.

I'm pretty laid back about things like that, but she really could have chosen something a little more appropriate. She was literally bursting out of that dress. In a kind of icky way.

I'd be more worried about the lack of educational value and the blatant product placement myself.

    Nevertheless:

    Not raunchy enough.

Kids are going to have learn about this stuff some day anyway.

Wow that's it? That's completely harmless I thought. I expected something really skimpy or rauncy like PVC or leather. She's wearing a dress for fecks sake. People- they're just getting more idiotic.

Nah, sure Elmo isn't wearing any clothes at all.

If you saw the chicks on hi5 then you'd know raunchy is Australian

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭Sea Sharp

    bullshit.
It's not like little 5 year old kids are going to be turned on by her.
Little kids would see 'raunchier' clothes than that on any summer's day.

So, a singer (can she actually sing?) known for wearing skimpy clothes... Turns up on a TV show, and wears skimpy clothes?

In case you couldn't tell, Katy Perry's popularity is completely lost on me, but if anyone's to blame it's whoever invited her on the show in the first place.

BTW: What happened to the actual street? Are real sets too expensive now?

Saw a clip of her singing at an awards show, awful. She wouldn't carry a tune in a bucket. Her fame seems to be down to shock tactics singing about teh ghey wimmin.

I usually laugh at things people complain about but that dress is inappropriate for a childs TV show. The dress is just about covering her nips!

No doubt it was done on purpose.

^ yeah but blame the producers, not Katy!...they let her film the segment in that dress, the fact they posted the clip on YT to gain reaction/publicity speaks volumes. Katy Perry is lovin' the publicity!

Why not blame Katy? She knows what Sesame Street is and who watches it. Anyone with a bit of cop on would know dressing like that is a bit much for childrens TV. Like I said in my previous post it was probably done on purpose. I'm sure by the producers and by Katy. You even said yourself she's loving the publicity.

Idd. She'll get more publicity from the fact her appearance was cut from the show.

It's not shown here afaik, haven't seen it in years...

Wasn't bad, I'm sure no young child would understand why a fuss is being made in the first place.

I thought KP looked smashing in that clip, IMO objections to her attire are just P.C. gone mad.

The clip reminds me of my favourite Seasame street song, with James Blunt:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2Z6tDSb6c8

It was great songwriting, the only song ever to include in rhyme, the word hypotenuse!

It's a bit of a joke when you consider that kids are fully acquainted with boobs on their first day in the world.

The prudes just can't handle them.

I've just realised what the issue is with Katy Perry.

She look like an Oompa Loompa in need of a spray tan:

Did they really expect a singer known for her T&A and provocative style to turn up for work wearing a polo neck ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,766 ✭✭✭squeakyduck

She dresses sexy anyway for her own work. Does she have to wear her thermal woolies just because she's on a kids show?

If you've got it flaunt it. Elmo aint gonna complain!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,480 ✭✭✭randombar

Hmmm maybe it was some other part of the show . . . .

I'm still wondering if the actual street set still exists?

Next thing you know, they'll kill off Mr Hooper.
