does anyone know of a way to setup your soundcloud so that you only recieve emails from people your following.or better still sort out the spam emails?

i dont mind recieving messages from people as long as its somewhat personal.

i got an 6 emails yesterday from some fella linking his 6 remixes of his track

and he did it again today.thats just one example

so anyone got a way around this:)

Apart from changing the settings for 'email alerts' (i.e. when you're notified about some update received on your SC account), I don't think there's anything you can do.

Personally, If some randomer emails me some link to their track/mix, I only listen to it if they've bothered to listen to whatever I have up on my profile. It's just such lazy, faceless and shameless self-promotion that it deserves to be ignored.

thats generally what i do.i dont mind if someone specifically emails me(like hi sean etc)asking for something but the faceless ones do my head in and fill my inbox of my email.

ill look into the email settings too

I only found it yesterday, there's an email settings tab with a box with these ticks in it, and you can uncheck to allow random people to share tracks with you. Sorted.

    cool
    ill do that

i prefer top find people myself or else go by the recommendations of the people i follow instead of being sent stuff

I just Mute them, it doesn't stop the 1st mail but it does stop all future mails.

i also like to flip it around and mail them back before i mute them and abuse the sh1t out of them telling them how their commercial cheese is ruining the music scene and how they are turning soundcloud into another my-space spam pit. i have these already in my sent box too so i don't have to type them again :pac:

afraid not, i tried it before coz someone muted me after i sent them one back and it said "you cant reply to this person because he/she has muted you".

    quick story lol :
there was this one guy, he wasn't mass mailing, he was mass following, like following 2000 people to get follows back, then drop who he is following to go follow another 2000 and so on, i just noticed him following me and dropping me 5 time in 7 days, i had enough,

    so i sent him a mail :
SUMMER’s name has become synonymous with techno ITS ALSO SYNONYMOUS WITH BEING A SPAMMING **** WHO GOES AROUND FOLLOWING PEOPLE 5 TIMES A WEEK FOR A ****ING FOLLOW BACK.
what does that say about your fuking music, you desperate **** !
then i muted him. funny enough he sent me one back under another account, a label that he owns and runs and sent me this :

After thinking about it quite a bit, I agree with you. I should not be spamming people, so I have decided to stop from now on. It is very inconsiderate of me. I apologize for offending you.
    Summer
but low and behold i was watching and only a week later he was back to his old tricks again so i sent him another mail, to his label account :

wow, down to 104 already, you look so pro now, the way you have 1500 + followers and your only following 104, just like the big names huh, wow your amazing......
haven't heard from him since , hehe.

tbh that's quite a clever way of achieving the 'thousands of followers but i only follow a select few' trick. pathetic, depressing, and wholly wrong but clever none the less.

it's a hell of a lot more clever than certain semi-known dj's posting international dates that are entirely fictional. next time you see certain spamhappy dj's announcing tour dates around eastern europe I recommend you google the venues.

fake tour dates ?, omg, would of never thought of that one, this is dire to say the least.

yup, I was genuinely stunned when some fairly clued up heads told me to google a few gigs by certain dj's. Although looking back on it, I can't believe I never suspected it before, given their career approach.

Genuine lols, people really do that?

    *edit*

Having said that, I can remember getting asked to do a gig in Poland, flying over to Gdansk to get picked up, and it turning out I had got both the name of the venue and the name of the town wrong; I can't remember if I pimped the gig in any of my posts at the time or on forums or whatever, but I'm pretty sure if people had gone googling they'd have come to the exact same conclusions...

I've got a following:follower ration on SC of about 1:7 ( i follow about 300 people who i am actually interested in and i have about 2200 followers) , the majority of people following me seemed to hear a song, leave a comment telling me how awesome i am and then bury me under links to daily uploads of ****e.

The mute button is a good friend at this point in time.

Well I know of 1 person who definitely does/did it, and it seems many many many people know it too.

There are also a handful of likeminded people who I have my suspicions about.

They're not anywhere near my genres (or yours for that matter) so I think all we can do is laugh.

not a fcukin chance i'm gonna spill any beans on this one. but i urge you the next time you see a fairly nobody dj doing gigs all over eastern europe to do a bit of googling and come to your own conclusions.
