Hi guys I’m not a complete muppet when it comes to computers but I’m having a bit of trouble with my work computer and hoping one of you could help me with it.

The basic problem is the sound isn’t working. I think that my computer has decided to uninstall its driver for my sound card or something.

It shows up as new hardware when I turn on the computer.

    It is a:

Singem Tel High Definition Audio CODEC

The computers operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Professional.

I think I just have to find the driver for this sound card and reinstall it but can’t seam to find it and I don’t want to download the wrong thing and further mess up my computer.

    Anyone able to help?

Yeah it looks as though the drivers aren't being found for the PC. What model PC are you using? If it's a Dell you can download the drivers by going to http://support.euro.dell.com and download and install them from there, if it's another PC manufacturer then you should be able to get the drivers from their website.

Right click My Computer and select Properties
Select the Hardware tab and choose Device Manager
Click on Sounds and Audio Devices and see is there a yellow exclamation mark next to anything.
