Cards in Spain stay mainly on the plane

Is betting on yellow cards/points or whatever they are the most reliable thing in football? Looking at the results of Spanish Primera Division matches from midweek and the weekend and just knowing from all last season, there are a huge number of cards given in every match in Spain.

These are all matches since the 18th of September. Most of you football stats heads are probably well aware of this but I never see anyone posting their bets on them. Are there no markets or something?

    Espanyol 1 - 0 Almeria 6 yellows
    Mallorca 2 - 0 Osasuna 6 yellows
    Sporting Gijon 2 - 2 Athletic Bilbao 7 yellows
    Real Sociedad 1 - 2 Real Madrid 3 yellows
    Hercules 1 - 2 Valencia 9 yellows including a red
    Levante 1 - 2 Villarreal 4 yellows
    Racing Santander 2 - 0 Zaragoza 5 yellows
    Atletico Madrid 1 - 2 Barcelona 9 yellows and a red
    Malaga 1 - 2 Sevilla 8 yellows
    Deportivo La Coruna 2 - 2 Getafe 9 yellows including a red
    Athletic Bilbao 3 - 0 Mallorca 1 yellow
    Osasuna 3 - 1 Real Sociedad 5 yellows
Real Madrid 3 - 0 Espanyol 9 yellows including 2 reds and another straight red
    Almeria 0 - 1 Levante 6 yellows
    Barcelona 1 - 0 Sporting Gijon 8 yellows
    Zaragoza 0 - 0 Hercules 6 yellows
    Valencia 1 - 1 Atletico Madrid 10 yellows

There are markets but the bookies are usually clued up enough on the card index when it comes to La Liga. Saying that, those figures are very interesting. Could call for an experiement this weekend perhaps.

Probably because they stats guys are well aware of it. I remember checking them out for the Atletico v Barca game and it was 1.90 or something for over 75 points. Wasn't worth the risk but it would have well paid off.

As others have said bookies are one step ahead.

pp do odds on the telivised la liga every weekend.

the corners market you could find an edge.

those odds are always the same for most matches where in the premiership they change the market for certain teams.

as far as l can remember real madrid are great at corners and barcelona arent great at getting them.

Yeah they hand out yellows like lollipops in Spain but the compilers set their lines way up. - 6.5, 7.5 usually

There is and I've mentioned it before plenty of money to be made by backing selected individuals to be booked but being early season, there havn't been many markets on this yet. We should start seeing it very soon in the live games.

Navas is the player I mentioned and it's always worth backing his direct opponent to be booked if you can. Also, Back Sergio Ramos to be booked every time he faces a pacey left winger. There are a plenty more if you pay attention.... Capel is the biggest diver I've ever seen and always causes trouble when he plays and a guy called Amorbieta for Bilbao is booked more often than not..

duscher from espanyol is another headbanger who loves to fly into tackles, dont know what odds he generally is to get booked but he is a dirty player

reyes from atletico madrid is another player who causes trouble for the left back when he plays, very tricky player who draws fouls

just noticed newcastle are 5/6 to be shown over 1.5 cards tomorrow.

Surely a team with barton, nolan, smith, coloccini, carroll and perch ( who has 5 in 5) should get at least 2 cards. Havent looked at the refs stats though, just seems too good to be true.

    Am i missing something?

    where are them odds?

against Stoke i'd say they will get 4 or 5 bookings.

    bet 365

They have 15 yellows in 5 games so far
Wolves have 17 yellows so far and theyre 11/10 for over 1.5 tomorrow

    Surely that couldnt be right?

Definitely worth a double on them, cheers.

Just double check that ive picked it up right before you bet
BBC website is giving mike jones as the referee for the newcastle game with an average of 3.5 cards per match
Wolves game refereed by Mark Halsey who has an average of 1.44 cards per game.
Maybe this has something to do with the odds but they still seem too good to pass

FT - 10 yellows and 1 Red in the Atleti game.

I'll be watching for that ref in future games - César Muñiz Fernández
