Great show, interesting waterproof spray. I don't know the name of it but its bound to be on the Grand Designs website - channel4/morehomes etc.

If its not on the website, then you could contact Grand Designs by email - they are quite helpful and should be able to id the waterproof spray.

I think your're looking for a Polyurea coating.

PM me if you'd like more details

I missed the grand designs program, but from the OP’s description. It sounds like a polyurea.
I’m a polyurea applicator, I’ll try to explain without appearing to be “shilling”.

It’s relatively new to Ireland, it is was originally developed as a coating for the oil, mining and gas, industries.
It was very expensive, but recently, the price has come down and made it available to more industries. There are many manufacturers of the material, some good products, some bad. Most of the EU guys have achieved various EU certifications for water, transport, building. (none have IAB)

There are many different formulations, displaying different properties depending on the application. The coatings are extremely durable and can withstand even the harshest environments.
It can be applied to a variety of substrates, concrete, steel, EPS foam, wood, fibreglass, fabric

It is rapid setting (1-2 mins depending on product), it contains no CFC’s, solvents or Voc’s.
Although it is a high performance coating, careful surface preparation and priming is essential.

Let me know if you need anything specific.
