iPhone 3G activation question

My brother gave me an O2 3G, it was jailbroken and unlocked. He was showing it to me and we noticed he forgot to wipe it, so he went in on the phone and selected factory wipe. I threw it in my bag and flew home, seems the factory wipe didnt like the jailbroken / unlocked nature of it and it went into an infinite boot loop.

I was able to restore it to 3.1.3 using itunes, but it now needs activating, and its an O2 UK phone, the required SIM for which is in the UK in my brothers phone.

What can I do to sort this out please? Was gonna give it to my daughter.

I read about Phonebook Sims made for transfering contacts and stuff working for activations, but I dont think they are readily availabel over here, are there any other ways round this please?

same thing happened to me.. but other way around.. A mate had a Irish sim tho so dident have to get one sent over..

Just trying to jail break it at the mo which isent going good..

If it comes to it I have a English O2 sim that I can send you if you need it..

Edit: Right I have jail broken the phone.. Anyone know what app I need to unlock the 3.1.4?

Go to cydia > sources > look for the ultrasn0w repo > click ultrasn0w and install it, reboot and you should be unlocked.

Is that a no then?

If I give my brother the IMEI and he rings O2 and gets them to unlock it, which he should have done anyways as its well out of contract, will I be able to activate it with any SIM?

Ok I got one of these off ebay for 5 yoyos delivered



Put it in, connect it to iTunes, phone activates. Visit Jailbreakme and away I went.

Actually after running Ultrasnow and putting in my Voda Sim it gave me a "Different SIM detected please connect to itunes"

I found I had to run Hacktivation, which finally sorted it.

What a palavar.

Here's the steps:

1) Insert ebay SIM and connect to iTunes and activate phone for access to menus.
2) Visit www.jailbreakme.com from Safari to jailbreak the iphone.
3) Install and run Ultrasn0w from cydia. Reboot.
4) Add the cydia.pushfix.info repo to cydia and search for and run Hacktivation Patch. Reboot.
5) Insert Voda / whatever SIM and away you go.
