Really asking those who got an A1 in Business last year. What were your methods? Is the marking scheme rigid and severe or are they flexible so long as the answer is relevant and correct? Also, what would you say to someone who got an A in JC Business (All theory, didn't do the accounting questions) and who's trying to self teach it for the LC? It doesn't seem particularly challenging as in there are no concepts or skills as such that need development. Moreso an attention to detail and memorising facts, would I be right in saying that?

First thing you have to realise. The business marking scheme is a joke. Look at previous marking schemes and see what they are looking for because you have to know what they are expecting or want off students.

Seeing as you are teaching yourself: The marking scheme at leaving cert is as rigid as you'll find. For example the role of the H.R Manager, on the marking scheme there are 5 and only five, and there is very little room to put it in your own words.
Answers in business follow the same format most of the time. Name the point, explain the point and give an example. It's usually weighted 2,2,1 as far as I remember.
Don't trust the book either, when you come to a section that's common on the paper check the marking scheme. The reason being that some books are not even in line with the marking scheme (wtf? ) In Maslow's hierarchy of needs putting self-esteem (as it said in the book) got no marks, whereas the accepted answer was just esteem.
Make shorthand notes of all key sections and you'll be fine :D

If you have any more questions feel free to ask :)
