PS3 Setup

    Alright Folks,
I recently got myself a surround sound system and I was not able to get the DTS working until I started messing about with the setting. I had to change the BD/DVD Audio Output Format (HDMI) to bitstream for this to work.

THis got me thinking that I might not have all of the correct setting for my PS3. Are there any setting that I should change to get the best out of my PS3 in terms of sound and picture quality.

    Thanks in advance.
    P.

What cables are you using to connect to your TV? And what make are they?

I have no idea what make they are. I am using HDMI cables that I got in Maplin.

Should be fine then, although I would recommend you get gold plated ones, but thats just being OTT :)

Any HDMI will work the same to be fair. Gold plated or not. I bought myself a cheap HDMI cable in Tesco and it's worked fine for me.

You don't need to spend much on a HDMI cable at all.

+1 the joys of a digital signal is that it either works or doesnt, not like an analogue signal. Monster cables were found out a while ago in relation to their overpriced hdmi cables

I'm not talking about high end cables here, but I bought one from ebay (€0.99 free P&P) and the signal was nowhere near as good as my component cabel (Which is saying a lot)

I also bought a tesco on (€7.99) and it was broken within three months of using it.

The sony one I bought, along with the component cable have lasted a year and counting and have never once given me any issues, and the picture is noticably better

sounds like you got some faulty cables tallon. HDMI is great cablewise anyway as once one works it works. If there are problems at all its a faulty cable.
